There’s something special about homemade butter – the rich flavor, the creamy texture, and the satisfaction of knowing exactly what’s in it. Here’s how you can make whipped homemade butter in your own kitchen:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream (preferably organic)
  • Salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Whip the cream: Pour the heavy cream into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Start whipping on medium speed and gradually increase to high speed.
  2. Continue whipping: Whip the cream until it goes through several stages – first, it will become whipped cream, then it will start to look grainy, and finally, it will separate into butterfat and buttermilk.
  3. Rinse and shape: Once the butterfat has separated from the buttermilk, stop the mixer and drain off the liquid. Rinse the butter under cold water, kneading it gently to remove any remaining buttermilk.
  4. Add salt (optional): If desired, sprinkle a pinch of salt over the butter and knead it in to enhance the flavor.
  5. Store and enjoy: Transfer the whipped homemade butter to a clean container or shape it into a log using parchment paper. Store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or freeze it for longer storage.

Homemade whipped butter is perfect for spreading on toast, melting over vegetables, or using in your favorite recipes. Once you try it, you’ll never go back to store-bought butter again!
